I went to the city library to borrow some books today.
I borrowed English grammar books and picture story show.
Picture story show is something unique to Japan.
Through the story of it, I wanted to teach my daughter about Japanese culture.
So I borrowed a story about “Setsubun” and “Hinamatsuri” this time.
“Setsubun” is the day before the beginning of spring in Japan.
The name literally means “seasonal division”, but usually the term refers to the spring Setsubun, properly called “Risshun” celebrated yearly on February 3 as part of the Spring Festival.
“Hinamatsuri”, also called Doll’s Day or Girls’ Day, is a special day in Japan.
“Hinamatsuri” is celebrated each year on March 3.Platforms covered with a red carpet are used to display a set of ornamental dolls representing the Emperor, Empress, attendants, and musicians in traditional court dress of the Heian period.
My daughter loves picture story show very much.
It was exciting to remember how I felt when I first read it!
When her father read it, her daughter was very happy and listening.
Meanwhile, I drank coffee while reading the book I borrowed.
Oh, I have to return those book by next Sunday.
